Description
The Mycorrhizosphere is a compelling environmental artwork with an array of fungi, plant and insect life. Mycorrhizosphere is filled with Pauline’s typical hidden details, and abundant colour and texture. The majority of this piece depicts an underground environment. Featuring rotting wood and insects alongside the fungal subject matter, emphasizing the important, mutually beneficial, association between leafy plants and fungi. Pauline has included fungi of all colours and sizes, from muted brown mushrooms to caps and brackets of all colours – blue, green, purple, pink and red.
The artwork coveys the hard reality of how environmental change can affect the health and diversity of fungi and can thereby threaten diversity of all life.
